Media Workshops
SurgeX interactive media workshops brings together activists, journalists and creatives to develop capacity and devise strategies on ways climate media can be advanced to influence policy and governance.
The essence of this program is to equip individuals with the necessary skills to advocate for climate justice through robust, comprehensive methods that intersects activism and visual storytelling. And to promote the widespread of climate news and data by infusing campaigning and social justice concepts in advocacy and story development.
Our media workshops are part of an extended strategy to build synergies between media platforms and activists to foster collaboration and exchange of ideas that promotes a decisive and inclusive take on the climate crisis in the global south.
Advocacy Journalism Trainings
Surge X Media incorporates advocacy journalism to deliberately situate and influence climate media that carries perspectives of the people of color. The key premise of this approach is to actively champion ideas and values that take into account local narratives by understanding our diversity, beliefs, cultures and socio-political economy, to advocate for the need for climate justice in a non-biased manner of approach that speaks to the people, and what they hope their future to be.
We host virtual advocacy journalism trainings sporadically. Our targets audience are individuals across the global south with deep interests of intersecting social justice advocacy in the call for climate action. Our topics are cross-sectoral and multidimensional, reflecting the need for urgent resilience building in historically marginalized communities.
